[fic] Final Fantasy VII. Fanfic 100. Broken.

So, because of the ponderings over at [livejournal.com profile] miko_no_da's, I got bunnied. Yeah, I got my personal ideas shot to hell, but anything that will make me finish the 100 gets its props.

Title: [pending]
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Prompt: 071. Broken
Characters: Zack and Cloud. I really should have claimed them for the Fanfic 100. Poor Sephiroth, not getting much love.
Rating: G/PG And Zack's in it. Amazing.
Word Count: 285
Notes: Again, bunnied by [livejournal.com profile] miko_no_da, and here's hoping that my recollections of flu dreams get me somewhere.

The world was still tinged with green. Cloud tried to remember if it was always like that. No, it couldn't be, not if he knew it wasn't right. How long had it been like this? He was eighteen--sixteen--and it had happened when he was sixteen so it couldn't have been very long...

"Spike! Spike!" Oh. Was he still here? Cloud hoped he stayed. He was very nice. The green faded. "Come on, move your feet! You don't want the muscles to--" The rest went away as the green came back. Sound tended to do that, mostly when the nice man was talking. Cloud very much wanted to hear what he said completely, but there was something that insisted that it all wasn't important.

Zack. His name was Zack. That was important. There was someone else, too. Tall. Black. He managed to slur out "Se..." before he couldn't move his mouth anymore.

"Not here," Zack said. "It's just you and me right now. Now, come on, move your feet for me, Spike."

Spike. Spike. Who was--oh. Cloud obeyed, trying to ignore how the world spun around him as he moved. His body moved around, too, trying to get some sense of balance in the spinning world. He lurched ahead, caught by a strong jerk to his arm before he fell. The motion swung him into faded blue. It felt rough, but it was warm and the smell comforted him.

"Good. You're almost ready to go at it on your own. Pretty soon we'll be sparring together." He was pressed more closely into that warm, faded blue. A soft, cool wetness on his forehead.

"I'm not going to leave you."

That made Cloud glad.
