Well, it's been a while since I put something into
fanfic100, so here I go, catching up on my own schedule. That's how it is sometimes.
Title: Zvet
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Characters: Sephiroth, Zack, and Cloud
Prompt: #11 - #20
Word Count: 994 in total
Rating: G - PG-13
Notes: The title means "Color", since those were the prompts I did this time. Also a reference to Dirge of Cerberus. Like always, this jumps around.
#11 - Red
Telltale.
Cloud hated it when he blushed.
He blushed when he messed up, he blushed when he was angry. Sometimes, he could barely talk to someone he didn't know. He blushed most especially when someone even mentioned Sephiroth within ten feet of him.
Zack said that was a sign of love. Of course, Zack liked to chase after shiny things when he was bored, so maybe his opinion didn't count for much.
#12 - Orange
Fallacy.
The sky is orange.
Statements like that should have you committed, not be the truth. The panic and confusion spread even to the normal state of things. It wasn't right; Sephiroth out of control, Cloud's town dying, and an orange sky at night.
No, this wasn't right.
Zack smiled anyway. Someone had to, and it wasn't going to be Cloud. He smiled even as his confidence was slipping away. That's just how he was.
#13 - Yellow
Moniker.
Cloud was used to being referred to by his features. Too pale, too blond, eyes too blue, hair too unruly.
"Yo, Spike! Get your ass out of the uniform! You, me, and Seph, up at his place in half an hour!"
He really only tolerated it when Zack did it.
#14 - Green
The Haunting Sense of Being.
Tifa was gathering the pieces slowly. She made sure to remember Zack, to remember everything about Nibelheim. Cloud accepted her guidance gratefully, literally pulling himself together.
The only problem was that Tifa's memory was not a complete picture. No one person's could be. She realized that once she saw what had happened between Cloud and Sephiroth in the reactor. She felt she done all she could. Cloud would be well after this.
Cloud quietly gathered even more memories; tender, secret things that only he would know.
#15 - Blue
Screen of Death.
"I think," Zack started, "This is a record. Shit, Seph at least managed to get into the reader."
"I told you that I'm not good at this!" Cloud yelled. "They never let me near a computer at home!"
"What, were you were going to build a bomb or something?" Zack joked.
"...they thought I might. That's what counts."
"...oh." Zack couldn't really joke when Spike started in on the town scapegoat thing.
The quiet seconds they spend staring at the error screen were uncomfortable ones.
#16 - Purple
RPF.
Normally, when seeing a commanding officer on the floor, laughing his ass off while his commanding officer is ready to let a good Fire 3 go onto the first thing that pisses him off, one would think that something wrong was about to happen. This was the particular scene that greeted Cloud Strife one day when delivering a message from one of his instructors to General Sephiroth. He not only knew something wrong was about to happen, but that said commanding officer on the floor, one Zackary Donovan, would be involved in what caused it.
"Strands!" Zack gasped, and then started laughing again.
Cloud must have looked as confused as he obviously was, since the General tersely explained, "Zackary, wandering around S-Net when he should be working, happened to find a new literary genre."
Zack stopped laughing long enough to expand. "See, I'm on this forum for World of Ruin--y'know, that Wutanese fantasy novel that everyone thinks is a critique of the war--and someone posts up something about Seph and his fans. I had to check it out.
"So, I go the link and find this shrine on the 'net for Sephiroth." He started laughing again. "They called it that! A shrine! I thought you were a fanboy! These girls beat you, man. They totally own your fanboy up."
"H-how?" Cloud stammered out. When Zack was like this, the best thing was just to let him keep talking.
"They. Write. Stories. Stories! They write stories about Sephiroth!" Zack started laughing again. Cloud, finally daring to look at the General directly, noticed he seemed more embarrassed than enraged.
"And Zackary," Sephiroth continued steadily, "Decided to read some selections, causing his current condition."
"I've got to read you some," Zack said. He got up, went over to his desktop, and began to recite. "'...the warrior, the Silver Demon of Wutanese nightmares, silken strands of moonlight falling like molten rivers down upon his--'" Zack snorted and began laughing again.
Cloud started giggling, in spite of himself.
"They've even got ones where they go and marry him! This thing is so tacked." Zack ignored the look of murderous intent on Sephiroth's face. He usually did.
#17 - Brown
Zack-wich.
Even though he jokingly called it a sandwich, Zack knew that it definitely looked like one. At least, some of the positions did.
He tended to be in between, those times when Seph wasn't feeling insanely possessive about Cloud. Two pale, light bodies and his tanned one in the middle. A tasty sandwich, he had to admit.
#18 - Black
Duty.
The Ancient was incapacitated, and the Failure gathered the materia for Sephiroth. There was something that told him that this wasn't a good idea. He could see a child, yelling at him, but ignored it. He could hear the voice of a stranger, somehow familiar, telling him to stop. He ignored that, too.
He stretched out his arm, giving the materia to Sephiroth. It was the least he could do.
#19 - White
Finer Points in Haircare.
Zack and Cloud both mentally correct anyone that describes Sephiroth's hair as "white". It isn't. It's silver, and that's really the only word for it. They realize they know better than anyone, considering the wonderful arrangement they have.
Zack braids it when he's bored. Cloud is just content to touch it. Sephiroth, who would sooner stab a person than let them near him, just sits still and lets them play.
#20 - Colorless
Final Exam.
Cloud was floating. Or was he lying down? Standing up? He was literally in the middle of nowhere.
He saw Sephiroth, still alive, still laughing.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, he remembered Zack's instruction and a rapid pattern of sword strokes.
"This one's pretty hard, but once you get it, you can take down just about anything."
Cloud steadied himself and charged.
