I don't know how the gossip network would actually work out, but I see the Shinra Academy/PKD amalgam being like some sort of demented high school, and Zack's one of the big men on campus. He's worked with Soldier Hewley who seems not to be here, for some reason..., and with General Sephiroth, after all.
