Enchantresses of Numbers, Queens of Engines

The Internets informs me that today is Ada Lovelace Day. I can get down with that.

Because of my background, I will issue a general squee/toast to all the ladies that made my presence on the web possible. Looking back on it, I learned what HTML, CSS, and PHP I know because of other women. (Shooping's more a mixed bag, but I want to focus on languages here because Ada's a programmer.) They count as role models, because I look at their work and want to construct something like it. It may not always work, but I learned something. Repeat as necessary for the multitude of web pages I've put out since December 26, 1998. (Realizing that I could input any string of HTML into the text box intended for the Guestbook links and images was my eureka moment. My eyes were opened, and I knew I could do a lot more with those templates Tripod gave me.)

My writing/fannish support is a majority of women, as well. The front end and its manipulation of technology needs some love as well. So thanks to all who follow me and my random thoughts.

And yes, I read The Difference Engine. Ada's nickname was too glorious to pass up.
