This started a while ago, talking to [livejournal.com profile] artimusdin about historical romance novels and about how there's a nationality du jour, and that it'll skip about. So, I said I'd wait for Japan's turn, and start gleefully wanking over what they've gotten wrong.

So, I started thumbing through a story in this anthology she'd alerted me to. In the beginning, this sentence struck me:
She had not taken seriously the idea that suicide was a sin, for she was not a Catholic, and a lukewarm Lutheran for that matter, and a woman of science, like her father.

I know what they were trying to say, and I'm sure you know what they were trying to say, but damn it, editor, do your farking job.
