Pulling an Empire, for me, means that you did what the ending to The Empire Strikes Back did. The ending is a slight breather after and before major shit. And major shit went down/will be going down.

I also liked the contrast between the earlier "WTF, why?" and "..." Laurence and the resolute version at the end. So, black coat = Seifer vibes, Y/Y?
